Gas is part of the energy solution.

It’s great to have a choice when it comes to powering your home. Because when gas shares the load with electricity, there's less dependence on one energy source.

It’s also great to know that the future will include new gases like hydrogen, biogas and bioLPG to energise our homes and businesses, and help us achieve our 100% renewable energy aspirations.

The future is looking bright. And warm. And nicely cooked.

The many benefits of gas.

As an energy for homes and businesses, gas has numerous advantages and benefits. From cooking, to heating the environments we live and work in, to heating our water.

Cooking with gas.

Take your cooking to the next level.

Restaurants around the globe use gas in their kitchens because of the fast heating and precise temperature control. With the flame of a gas cooktop centralized, it allows for even distribution of heat too, which reduces scorching and allows for a wide range of cookware. And when you turn the gas flame off, the heat is off too

You can get really creative with gas as well. Butane torches mean you can char and caramelize with the best of them .

Cooking with gas isn't confined to the kitchen either. Cooking on a gas BBQ makes outdoor entertaining fun and easy and is a highlight of the Kiwi summer!

Home heating with gas.

A great way to keep warm and cosy.

In New Zealand, we have access to both natural gas and LPG heating options, which means there will be a heating solution to fit your needs, style and budget. Whether you are after ambient heating, a ducted multi-room solution or a statement fireplace, heating with gas is the way to go.

The costs of heating with gas can be around the same or only marginally more costly than running a heat pump but without the noise and the big clunky unit on the outside of your house.

Heating with gas means you’ll always be warm.

You'll be warm no matter how cold it gets outside - gas heating will keep working unlike some heat pumps which can cut out if the temperature drops too low. Some gas heaters will also keep working if there is a power cut as they aren't reliant on electricity.

Heating with gas is quick.

Heating with gas is great for large or small households because gas heaters and fireplaces get to your desired temperature quicker than electric heaters and heat pumps.

Water heating with gas.

Gas water heating is reliable

There are a number of continuous-flow and gas hot water cylinder options on the market. A gas continuous-flow system means always having enough hot water available when you need it. You will also free up space in the house that’s currently occupied by the cylinder.

Power to You

A high performance energy, now and into the future.

New renewable, low and net zero carbon gases are the way forward. Hydrogen gas and biogas are already being developed and trialed here in New Zealand, with the goal of introducing blended gas energy by 2025. We expect that existing natural gas and LPG will continue to be delivered to consumers as blends increase.

All of which means you should be able to continue to enjoy the benefits of gas in your life as we move to tomorrow’s gas energy.

For many years, gas has proved itself to be a high performance energy. Great for cooking and heating our homes and businesses, and excellent for instantly heating our water as needed.

The future looks even brighter as we move to tomorrow’s gas energy.
